I am a traditionally trained wooden boatbuilder/shipwright by trade. I served a 4 1/2  year apprenticeship at a local Cornish boatyard.Subsequently I have  continued in my trade for a further 35 years working in all areas of:
Yacht/boatbuilding,restoration,refits and repairs.Based in Mayflower Marina  and covering  the Plymouth area and South East Cornwall.
     My work covers a huge range of services from a leaky port light through to major lengthy refits and extensive alterations or damage repairs not limited to just wooden vessels.Working to Llyods standards where needed and meeting with any Mca requirements.
Most notably a recent 2 year restoration of the Gipsy Moth III, Chichesters famous trans atlantic record breaker.
Also a complete conversion of a 46 ft Holman classic yacht to electric propulsion.
  All works are carried out to the highest standard with a mindful approach to costing and aesthetics, also to the practicality of any alterations or add ons, ensuring the right materials are used for compatibility and to guarantee longevity for any modern vessel or classic alike.

Specialised Shipwrighting 

​Specialised Shipwrighting services include:

• Spar making and repairs (wooden)
• Hull planking (all methods)
• Refastening and reframing
• Teak decking ( con-structural & facial)
• Re-engine (engine beds)

• Internal furniture manufacture

Of course any new for old fittings etc on any construction vessel. Also introduce new equipment to any vessel making alterations where required.

Insurance Work

​All manner of insurance work undertaken on any construction vessel incurring damage from any scenario.
​ Acquiring quotes from all trades involved and working closely with insurers surveyors.

Project Management

​Projects that require several trades will be managed and only one point of contact will be needed between the customer and myself.
I work closely on a regular basis with all reputable trades in the local area having been filtered over the years.
 Also the  best value for money and the most up to date products required for any project.

Where am I based?

We are pleased to announce that from autumn 2024 we are trading from the award winning Mayflower International Marina in Devonport Plymouth.
